Tiny Expert: Survival — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 November 2026
Tiny Expert: Survival ("the app") is an offline first aid and survival guide. It is built to work without a network, and it is built to keep your information on your phone.
What the app stores
Everything you enter stays on your device, in the app's private storage:
- your country, units, and household details (number of people and pets, and tags such as infants, pregnancy, or a chronic condition)
- places you save (home, meeting points, shelters, hospitals) and their coordinates
- your pinned guides, checklists, and supply items
There is no account and no sign-in. We (the developer) never receive any of this. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage, deletes it.
Location
The app asks for your location only while you're using it, and only when you use a feature that needs it: saving your current position as a place, the arrow and compass that point to a saved place, and finding nearby places. Your location is used on the device. The app never tracks you in the background.
What leaves your phone
Three things use the network. Nothing you enter in the app (household, places, checklists) is ever sent.
Content updates. When the app starts with a connection, it checks Expo's update service (expo.dev, run by Expo/650 Industries, Inc.) for new guides and fixes, and downloads them. The request includes the app version, the platform (Android), and a random ID created when the app was installed, which Expo uses to count active installs. It contains nothing about you or what you do in the app.
Shortened map links. If you paste a shortened Google Maps link (maps.app.goo.gl) when saving a place, the app opens that link once to read the coordinates from it.
Find nearby places, during setup or in Places. When you tap it, the app sends your location rounded to about 1 km to a public OpenStreetMap server (overpass-api.de, or overpass.kumi.systems as a fallback) to look up hospitals, pharmacies, shelters and similar places near you. Nothing else is sent with it: no name, no account, no device identifier. Those servers are run by third parties and see your IP address like any website does; see their own policies.
Support payments
Everything in the app is free. The version downloaded from tinyexpert.org has no payments. In the Google Play version, if you choose to support the app, the one-time payment goes through Google Play, which handles it under its own privacy policy; we receive no payment card or personal details from it. The app keeps only a note on your device that you supported it, and asks Google Play on launch whether this Google account has, so it stops asking after a reinstall.
If you tap a button that opens Google Maps or your phone dialer, that app opens with the destination or number you chose, and its own privacy policy applies.
What the app does not do
- no analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs
- no tracking, profiling, or selling of data
- no sharing with third parties beyond the update check and the OpenStreetMap lookup above
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Medical information
The app gives general first aid and survival information. It is not medical advice and does not replace emergency services or trained responders.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date. Questions: conclau.hermony@gmail.com
